The Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Arts Media and Social Sciences (FAMSS) represented the National University of Rwanda in an exhibition which gathered fourteen participants among non-government organizations, media and higher learning institutions. This exhibition took place in Kigali at the Serena Hotel this 04th June 2012.
NUR with Kigali institute of Education are the only higher learning institutions which had their projects succeeded to benefit from a grant given by the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB). The NUR team composed of Dr Ezechiel Sentama, Eric N. Ndushabandi (PHD candidate) and Maxime Rwaka (Msc.) presented a project of entitled “Citizen Knowledge of Joint governance Assessment indicators using Geographic Information System”.
Dr Ezechiel Sentama who led the delegation from NUR stated that NUR participated in this exhibition organized by RGB as a research institution which presented a project in line with RGB criteria. Dr Sentama said: “FAMSS/NUR participated in this exhibition as a research institution which presented a project pertaining to governance. We are proud to rank among only fourteen projects awarded by RGB”.
Dr Sentama reckons that the fact that the FAMSS/NUR project was among the projects recognized and sponsored by RGB shapes NUR visibility as they had opportunity to demonstrate some of the areas that NUR is contributing to the development of the country.
State Minister in the Ministry of Local Government, Dr. Alvera Mukabaramba commended all participants who spend their time to organize what will be a contribution to governance policies. Dr. Mukabaramba explained that it is important to commend all participants for their contribution to government policies as it will help Rwanda to realize its Vision 2020.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Governance Board, Prof. Anastase Shyaka urged Non-Government organizations and academic institutions to keep the spirit of commitment and responsibility in the development of the country.
All participants in this exhibition received awards of achievement recognition. The RGB gave a financial support of up to 8 million Rwandan francs to each competing organization last year to come up with programs of their choice that promote good governance.
