Dr. Delanyo Dovlo, the Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Rwanda visited the faculty of Medicine of the National University of Rwanda (NUR) on 24th July 2012. In his speech, Dr Delanyo Dovlo vowed to advocate for challenges which the faculty of Medicine is facing.
The dean of the faculty of Medicine, Prof. Patrick Kyamanywa who welcomed Dr. Delanyo explained to this guest that the faculty of Medicine trains students in General Medicine at undergraduate and postgraduate levels to try to find solutions to problems of health in Rwanda and in the sub region. He added that the faculty of Medicine is putting much effort in promoting ICT and supporting Research projects in order to compete with other medical academic institutions in the region.
Dr. Delanyo Dovlo, while addressing the staff and students of the faculty of Medicine, he informed that the visit aimed at exchanging with the faculty of Medicine about their teaching activities and the projects in line with WHO programs.
He promised to advocate for challenges presented by the faculty of Medicine. He added that WHO as an institution which is focusing on technical support, will occasionally avail invitations for the faculty of Medicine to participate in international conferences and fellowship programs.
The Staff members and Students of the Faculty of Medicine participated in the questions and answers session focusing on health sector in Rwanda. At the end of the visit, Dr. Delanyo Dovlo together with staff members and students of the faculty of Medicine made a tour of the faculty of Medicine class rooms, laboratories and University Teaching Hospital.
